Thanksgiving on the Ranch

3-Minute Read

Thanksgiving morning doesn’t look much different out here than any other day.

The cattle are right where they ought to be, content on fresh pasture.

The fences are still upright, the water is clean and the land is resting easy. That kind of quiet is something I don’t take for granted.

This time of year, I find myself grateful for more than just the food on the table. First and foremost, I’m thankful for you—our customers, readers and neighbors who believe in what we’re doing.

When you choose grass-fed beef, you’re putting healthy food on your plate and endorsing a way of life that respects animals, heals the land and keeps family ranching alive.

I’m also thankful for the animals themselves. They’re more than just a source of food—they’re partners in regeneration.

Managed right, they graze in a way that builds soil, restores grasslands and keeps our little ranch thriving.

The Land. This ranch isn’t a factory; it’s a living system. Each season, each rainfall, each blade of grass reminds me that we’re part of something bigger. Taking care of it, so it can take care of future generations, is an endeavor I’m also thankful for.

Lastly, I’m thankful for the simple things

  • A crisp morning walk through the pasture

  • Family gathered around a meal

  • Neighbors stopping by to talk cattle and weather

  • The steady rhythm of seasons that remind us we’re not in charge, just caretakers

Those moments are the real wealth of ranch life.

As we look back on this year at the ranch, here’s what rises to the top of our gratitude list:

  • Healthy animals that thrived on pasture

  • Rain that came when we needed it

  • Customers who put their trust in us and our 100% grass-fed beef

  • The chance to do meaningful work every day, close to the land and close to family

So as you celebrate today, I hope you’ll join me in giving thanks—not just for the big things, but for the everyday gifts we sometimes overlook. From our family here at the ranch to yours: Happy Thanksgiving

Cheers!

Jim
